Manufacturing and Materials Engineering

DCU’s School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering invests heavily in ICT research to complement the expertise in more traditional domains such as mechanical test, surface coating, laser processing etc.

DCU’s expertise is grouped along three themes:
   Innovative manufacturing
   Biomedical engineering
   Sustainable engineering

A significant component of manufacturing engineering research is on the development of software for supply chain optimisation.

The Centre for Medical Engineering Research (MEDeng), a key research centre at Dublin City University is focused on translating engineering and materials research into healthcare solutions.  This requires advanced modelling in software ahead of building devices and prototypes.

The Advanced Processing Technology Research Centre (APT) focuses on state of the art research activities in the areas of Production Technology, Sustainable Technology, Micro and Nano Technology, and Advanced Engineering Materials.
