Dr Donal O'Shea is the Chief Executive of Deciphex. He has a degree and Ph.D. from DCU and was a former member of academic staff in the School of Biotechnology.  Donal co-founded Slidepath in 2003 and oversaw its development to trade sale in 2009. Having sold SlidePath to Genetix PLC in 2009, and supporting the sale of Genetix to Danaher Corp. in 2010, Donal spent a number of years with Danaher in various General Management roles and also supported deal flow in their M&A pipeline, leading to the successful acquisition of Aperio Technologies in 2012.  More recently Donal has founded Deciphex which is focussed on the application of Artificial Intelligence in Pathology and is rapidly scaling this business in DCU Invent.  Donal is also a board member and advisor to several Irish early stage start-ups including Oncomark, Microsynbiotix and GlowDx.  Donal has a unique perspective on the start-up journey and key strategies and pitfalls in the launch and early capitalisation of university spinouts and tech start-ups.
